What it does

AgileProcess Planner is an AI-assisted delivery agent that turns unstructured requirements, feature ideas, and sprint goals into work a software team can execute. Instead of manually translating a planning document into dozens of work items, a user can provide requirements text or a file and receive a structured backlog containing epics, features, user stories, and implementation tasks.

The project connects planning with delivery operations. It can create Azure DevOps work items, assign stories to sprints, provision Azure AD accounts, add people to security groups, and place them on the correct DevOps teams. This makes it useful for both initial project setup and recurring sprint planning.

Every external integration follows an MCP-only architecture. Azure DevOps, Microsoft Graph, and the planning service are accessed through dedicated MCP clients, keeping credentials, request logging, throttling, token refresh, and error handling behind consistent tool interfaces.

Core capabilities

What I built

  • Plans backlogs and breaks features into user stories and implementation tasks.
  • Creates Epic → Feature → User Story → Task hierarchies in Azure DevOps.
  • Automates Azure AD account, security group, and DevOps team provisioning through MCP.

Frameworks and tools

Language and runtime
TypeScript, Node.js, ts-node
Agent integration
Model Context Protocol (MCP) clients and servers
Cloud services
Azure DevOps, Azure AD, Microsoft Graph API
Interfaces
Natural-language CLI, JSON input files, OpenAPI contract
Quality
Jest test suite, configuration validation, dry-run support

How it works

  1. 01

Accept requirements text, a requirements file, a feature request, or a sprint goal.

  2. 02

Generate a backlog plan or decompose a feature into user stories and tasks.

  3. 03

Send approved operations through MCP tools to create Azure DevOps work items.

  4. 04

Optionally provision Azure AD users and assign them to security groups and DevOps teams.

  5. 05

Write Markdown reports containing created item IDs, assignment results, and portal links.
